Character is the seed of one's moral being.
Character expresses one's personality.
The sum total of all good and bad traits in a person is his or her character.
Godly Character is one and unchangeable virtue of God,not comprising both good and bad traits as that of humans.
To possess bad traits means that we are not perfect as God and that we have no Godly character in us.
As Christians,our aim is not to sin less as others always say: I know am not perfect so I'll do more good than bad...Absolutely no! We are to be changed completely into the image of God through Christ's perfection in us.
Godly Character is the fruit of the Spirit mentioned in Galatians 5 verses 22(Love, Joy, Peace...)
And this Godly character is rooted in the word of God which is uncovered through the study of God's word and applying the word in our daily lives.
When we do this,though we are not perfect but Christ's perfection is attributed to us because Christ is evident in us. That's why there is nothing like I'm sinning less.
We can nurture Godly character. The word of God is the building block of Godly character. In building Godly character,we ought to know the following:
1) Power- (Psalm 37:35-36) "I have seen the wicked in great power,and spreading himself like a native green tree. Yet he passed away and behold,he was no more. Indeed,I sought him,but he could not be found"
2) Life-(Psalm 90:10) "The days of our lives are seventy years;And if by reason of strength they are eighty year, yet their boast is only labour and sorrow; For it is soon cut off,and we fly away"
3) Material Things-(Psalm 102:25-26) "Of old You laid the foundation of the earth, And the heavens are the works of Your hands. They will perish,but You will endure. Yes,they will all grow old like a garment;like a cloak You will change them. And the will be changed" See also(Matthew 6:33)
People of God,I want you to accept the fact that Power,Life and Material things will not last long.
Let us not commit evil because of the power we have. Don't continue to exude bad character because you think you have long life.
We have to do away with all evil traits!
Lastly,let no one depend on his or her cars,money,mansions,lands,
We must not sin because of what we have. All what we can boast of will pass away like we will soon do.
Rather,let us build a Godly character by studying the word of God,
Applying it in our lives,
Praying to invite the Spirit of God in our hearts so that we will possess the character that God is expecting us to have before Jesus Christ comes again to take us to heaven.
I pray to God to help us all abide in Him and to be transformed completely into the fullness of His being. This I pray in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
