We fool and delude ourselves when we think all we need to do is read or hear the Word but fail to obey the Word of God.God's Word does not profit us if we don't do what it says.We learn the scriptures not just to know it but to do it.
James 1:22"But be ye doers of the Word ,and not hearers only,deceiving your own selves.'The worst kind of deception is self-deception which leads to disobedience to the Word of God which is sin.
Many get puffed up with pride with how much of the Bible they know but they do not practice the Word and apply it to their lives.A true student of the Word wants to learn in order to obey and please the Lord.We must measure the effectiveness of our Bible study by the effect it has on our conduct and attitudes.
Jesus said in Luke 11:28"Blessed are they that hear the Word of God,and keep it." Keep means obey !Many love to say,'I am blessed' when in fact they are not obeying the Bible.How often do we merely 'hear' the Word with no intention on obeying the Word?
There must be a deep desire and willingness to do whatever it says.We must translate the Bible into daily living in order to grow in godliness.
Here is a challenge ! Read Ephesians 4:22-32 and find out what you need to obey.Obedience affects every area of our lives ! No more excuses my friends.
